Cooking up a Storm!
The children recently transformed the school into a bustling restaurant for a day and it is safe to say they did not disappoint!
The girls embraced a Mexican theme, while the boys opted for Italian cuisine. Their first task was to research dishes from their chosen cultures and carefully decide on a menu. Once they were happy with their selections, they used the school Chromebooks to design and create professional-looking menus for their restaurant.
Working within a budget, the children prepared shopping lists and enjoyed a trip to Lidl Ballymahon to purchase all the ingredients they needed. Back at school, the real work began. They carefully prepared and cooked their dishes, planning their timings to ensure that everything would be ready to serve together.
The school hall was transformed into a stylish restaurant, fit for fine dining. The children from the Junior Room enjoyed their own special table, complete with specially designed activity books to keep them entertained between courses. Meanwhile, the adults chose from the beautifully presented menus and were treated to exceptional service, as the children waited on the tables with great precision and professionalism.
After all the meals had been served, the reviews were in – and there was no doubt about the result. The young restaurateurs earned a well-deserved 10/10!
It was a fantastic day filled with teamwork, creativity and roleplay. Most importantly, the children gained valuable real-life learning experiences and skills that will stay with them for years to come. Well done to everyone involved!
