Engineers Week!

6th Mar 2026

As part of Engineers Week, the children in our school have been busy exploring the world of construction, design and problem-solving through a range of exciting hands-on projects.

The Senior Room took on the challenge of building their very own mini greenhouses. Following instructions carefully, the pupils worked hard to construct the structures, which we look forward to using later this year as part of our school garden. It was wonderful to see the children applying their engineering and teamwork skills while creating something that will have a real purpose in our school.

The Senior Room also made great links with their History lessons on the Normans. Using their creativity and knowledge, the children designed and began building models of a Norman Castle as well as a Motte and Bailey. These projects allowed them to explore how castles were constructed for defence while developing their own design and building skills.

Meanwhile, the Junior Room had great fun taking part in a variety of construction activities. They designed and built their own windmills while learning about their importance and how wind energy can be used. This linked in perfectly with our work towards this year’s Biodiversity Green Schools flag, helping the children understand how renewable energy can support a more sustainable environment.
The Junior Room also put their engineering skills to the test by constructing towers using pasta and marshmallows. The challenge encouraged creativity, teamwork and problem solving — and the results were very impressive!

Engineers Week was a fantastic opportunity for the children to explore how engineering shapes the world around us while having lots of fun learning through building and creating.
