Felting Workshop!
The children at Scoil Naomh Bhríde recently took part in a wonderful felting workshop with local heritage artist Annette, centred on the theme of St Brigid. As our school is named after St Brigid, the children have been learning a great deal about her life, her values, and her importance in Irish history and tradition.
During the workshop, the children discovered the origins of felting and learned about this ancient craft. They created beautiful felted pieces of their own, which will be brought together to form a large St Brigid’s cloak.
Annette also shared many folklore tales from our local area, bringing history to life for the children. These stories were explored further through Drama, with the children re-enacting them using mini freeze frames, allowing them to express their understanding in an imaginative and active way.
It was a truly engaging and enjoyable workshop, making excellent links between Art, History, and Drama.
