IMR Tour
Today, our students had a fantastic and memorable visit to the Irish Manufacturing Research centre in Mullingar. From the moment they arrived, they were immersed in a world of innovation, creativity, and cutting-edge technology.
The children were given an exclusive look inside the centre, where they had the opportunity to meet the incredible team working there. The staff generously shared their knowledge and passion, introducing the students to exciting technologies such as 3D printers, robotics, and VR headsets. They demonstrated how these tools work and explained their real-world applications, sparking great curiosity and enthusiasm among the group.
A special highlight of the visit was listening to the wonderful Emma, who spoke about the importance of manufacturing and the many different forms it can take. Her engaging explanation helped the students understand how vital this industry is in our everyday lives.
The students also took part in a hands-on challenge, working collaboratively in groups to design and create packaging for a cookie. Their task was to ensure the packaging was strong and protective enough to keep the cookie safe during delivery back to our school.
We are now eagerly looking forward to the arrival of our cookies later this week and to seeing how well the students’ packaging solutions perform.
A huge thank you to everyone at IMR for such an inspiring and enjoyable experience!
