Maths Week 2025!

17th Oct 2025

This week we celebrated Maths Week in our school, and the children thoroughly enjoyed taking part in a range of fun, hands-on maths activities each day!

On Monday, the senior room took part in an exciting online maths quiz, competing against schools from all over Ireland. Meanwhile, the junior room explored maths in nature by collecting an assortment of leaves, creating beautiful leaf rubbings, and discussing the lines of symmetry found in their shapes.

On Tuesday, the whole school focused on the strand of Measure. Pupils weighed ingredients and converted them into the correct metric units. The senior room put their measuring skills to the test by baking cupcakes, while the junior room enjoyed making rice crispie buns.

On Wednesday, each class went on a 2-D shape hunt around the school grounds. Using the school iPads, they captured photos of shapes and angles found in real-life objects. Each pairing then reported back to the class what they had found.

Thursday’s activity combined art and maths, as the children created fantastic 2-D witch artworks, perfect for the Halloween season!

To finish off the week, on Friday, everyone took part in a lively session of maths orienteering and enjoyed a variety of maths stations, putting their problem-solving skills into action.

It was a wonderful week of fun, learning, and creativity—all while showing that maths is everywhere around us!
