Our Natural Environment!
10th Feb 2026
Recently in Geography, the children have been learning all about our natural environment. We explored the four key spheres of the Earth and what they mean: the atmosphere, biosphere, hydrosphere and geosphere.
To bring this learning to life, the children took part in a hands-on investigation where they created their own micro-atmospheres in bottles. They carefully layered stones to represent the geosphere, along with clay and compost. Water was added to show the hydrosphere, and seeds were included to represent the biosphere.
Once complete, the bottles were sealed to create a mini atmosphere. This hands-on activity helped the children see how the Earth’s spheres are connected and work together.
